Thinking about a career in teaching Maths or Physics?
Are you in your penultimate year of study?
This is a fantastic opportunity for penultimate year STEM graduates who are thinking about a career in teaching, particularly Maths or Physics.
Our 4 week programme will give students an insight into life in a classroom and give them the chance to learn more about teaching as a profession whilst being able to share their passion for their subject with the next generation of scientists and mathematicians and earning a salary at the same time.

The West Yorkshire Teaching Alliance was one of only 23 pilot schools in the country to offer an Internship in 2016 and we are pleased to be able to run the programme again for this, our third year. The aim of the programme is to introduce STEM undergraduates to the teaching of Maths and Physics, predominantly in secondary school.
The programme commences with time at the University of Huddersfield exploring how to teach, giving students the building blocks they will need for the next part of their placement, which is based in secondary schools within the West Yorkshire Teaching Alliance.
In school, students will initially shadow and observe outstanding teaching then increase their involvement to supporting small groups and helping to deliver specific lesson activities, with the ultimate aim of being able to plan and deliver a lesson in full.
Students will also be given the opportunity to experience teaching in other phases such as primary or post-16 provision and may have access to further training opportunities.
At the end of the programme, students will be offered the opportunity to keep in touch during their final year of study and if they wish to pursue a career in teaching, they will be guaranteed an interview for a place on our School Direct teacher training programme.
